È l'unica mwcwspecie nota del genere mwdamwdqMadacantha.

Etimologia

Il nome deriva, per la prima parte, dalla nazione del mweqMadagascar (mwegMad-), dove è stata rinvenuta l'unica specie nota e, per la seconda parte, dal mwewgreco mwfamwfqἃκανθα, mwfgàcantha, cioè mwfwspina, pungiglione, per la presenza di una spina sull'mwgaopistosoma.

Distribuzione

La specie è stata rinvenuta in mwgwMadagascarcite-ref-araneidae-1-0[1].

Tassonomia

Per la determinazione delle caratteristiche di questo genere sono stati presi in considerazione gli esemplari di mwigGasteracantha nossibeana mwiwStrand, 1916 in un lavoro dell'aracnologo Emerit del 1970cite-ref-araneidae-1-1[1].

Dal 1974 non sono stati esaminati altri esemplari, né sono state descritte mwkgsottospecie al 2014cite-ref-araneidae-1-2[1].
